About Current Time
Known in Russian as Настоящее Время, Current Time is a 24/7 television and digital network for Russian speakers, led by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in cooperation with Voice of America.
Current Time English regularly showcases a selection of stand-out Current Time content with appeal for international audiences. From Kazakhstan to Ukraine, from Russia to Georgia, the English-language site offers a local, in-depth look at the trends and events shaping some of the world’s most dynamic, yet least understood countries.
Mission
Launched in February 2017, the Current Time network provides Russian speakers worldwide with an alternative to Kremlin-controlled media – offering live news, robust debate, and accurate and balanced reporting on local, regional, and international issues. Editorially independent, Current Time counters misinformation by providing fact-based, unbiased, balanced reporting.
The Current Time network focuses first on news. This includes the daily news programs Asia and Newsday, as well as hourly newscasts and the Evening show, a nightly analysis of the day’s news. Baltic Weekly provides insight into events from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, while Footage Vs. Footage helps viewers perceive intentional manipulation of the news. Voice of America rounds out the coverage with newscasts, travel shows, and news magazines that give diversified, detailed information about life within the U.S.
Current Time also offers a rich mix of unique feature and documentary programming from Russia (Person On The Map, Unknown Russia), Central Asia (Asia 360°), and beyond. Current Time television content is complemented by a robust digital component that engages and connects with global audiences via social media and other platforms.
Current Time content is accurate, factual, timely, and entertaining.
