Caucasus Crossroads: Life After War (Subtitled)

Armen is a displaced blues performer; Nadir is a displaced music teacher. The two men’s experiences in Armenia and Azerbaijan’s conflicts over Nagorno Karabakh differ, but both share a struggle to adapt to life after war, without forgetting the past.

For hundreds in Georgia, that past includes Tbilisi’s Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel, once used for housing internally displaced persons from the 1992-1993 conflict with separatists in Abkhazia. Nearly 30 years later, these IDPs still feel that their true home remains in Abkhazia.

These three short films, shot by local documentary filmmakers, examine how memories of war and its consequences impact ordinary citizens in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. The reports are part of a Current Time project with the non-profit, Tbilisi-based multimedia outlet Chai Khana.
