In 2014, amidst the EuroMaidan revolution, Natalia Balakireva moved to Kyiv from the central industrial city of Dnipro to be part of the changes then afoot. Five years later, she says that visa-free travel to the European Union, an independent Orthodox church for Ukraine, and “acceptable” taxes have all justified her trust in the man elected to help make the revolution’s promises a reality, President Petro Poroshenko. As she did in 2014, she plans to support the businessman-turned-politician in this year’s presidential elections.
