U.S. President Joe Biden pledged on July 8 to grant visas to Afghan interpreters who have worked for the United States during its nearly 20-year war against terrorism in Afghanistan and to evacuate them out of the country. One interpreter and a former senior Afghan intelligence official emphasized to Current Time that the risks to these individuals’ lives will only increase as the Taliban expands its territorial control.
