There’s more than water to the conflict over the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. In the Tajik exclave of Vorukh, surrounded by Kyrgyzstan, residents have just one main road, a so-called “road of life,” that connects them to the rest of Tajikistan. But, even with the April 28-29, 2021 fighting with Kyrgyz over, most interviewed Tajik drivers say they only feel safe on it during the day.
