Crimea: Voters Without A Voice

After Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, residents Irina and Antonina, like hundreds of other Crimeans, turned down a Russian passport. But that choice had consequences. Without a Russian passport, the two women say, they cannot find work and, now, cannot afford to travel into Ukrainian-controlled territory to vote in Ukraine’s March 31 presidential elections. By contrast, some other Crimeans take no interest in the poll – Ukraine is not our country, they say.
