Russia's Soviet past outshone its Putin present for the 1,607 respondents in this Levada Center poll from June-July 2019. The survey questioned respondents about conditions in the late 1970s-early 1980s, before the 1985 advent of the Soviet Union's last leader, perestroika-and-glasnost advocate Mikhail Gorbachev.
