On February 2, Russian opposition leader Aleksei Navalny was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for allegedly violating the terms of a suspended sentence for financial crimes against the French cosmetics company Yves Rocher. In response, Navalny's colleagues have called for protests in downtown Moscow.
