Police violently detained peaceful protesters and apparent bystanders in Moscow, heavily clubbing some before dragging them away. Hundreds were detained on August 3, a week after mass detentions and demonstrations in Moscow, which were also against the banning of multiple opposition candidates from running in a municipal election scheduled for September.
