The parents of detained Belarusian activist-journalist Raman Pratasevich, Dzmitry and Natalia Pratasevich, told Current Time on May 31 that they have filed a complaint with the Belarusian police about physical signs suggesting that their son has been physically abused in a KGB pre-trial detention center in Belarus. Speaking from Poland, they demanded that he receive access to an independent doctor for a proper assessment of his medical condition. The Belarusian KGB has not responded to the Prataseviches’ allegations. Pratasevich, whom Minsk deems a “terrorist,” and his Russian girlfriend, Sofia Sapega, charged with inciting disorder, were detained on May 23 when their Ryanair flight to Lithuania from Greece was diverted to Minsk in response to a false bomb threat.
