On August 14-15, as the Taliban neared the Afghan capital, Kabul, several hundred Afghan service personnel fled to Uzbekistan, Afghanistan’s northern neighbor, on board military planes and helicopters. A video distributed on Telegram depicts the Afghans and Uzbeks’ interaction after the landing of a few of the helicopters. The relations appeared cordial, though, a day later, an Afghan pilot was wounded when Uzbekistan shot down his plane after it crossed the border.
